FAIR presents the following videos of interest
Dr. Darling's poignant
presentation
in Washington, DC to the National Association of Social workers when
they named him National Public Citizen of the Year for his work with
FAIR, his book Coma Life
and his efforts for patients in the FAIR liver disease & transplant
support group
and in the local transplant ICU.
Anthony
Fauci, MD, is Director of the Institute (NIAID) at the National
Institutes of Health that gets $2.9 billion in funding for HIV/AIDS. Dr.
Fauci has direct control over those funds, which come directly from
Congress and are not capable of being altered by his boss,
the Director of the NIH. To hear Dr. Fauci make
out case for recognition of the great success against HIV and
redistribution of a significant portion of HIV funding to other
illnesses, watch this very
short clip in which he supports our efforts by stating,
"...the scientific advancements that
have been made in HIV [research] are breathtaking [with] highly
effective drugs to suppress HIV to the point where what was a death
sentence in the early eighties to now having patients who look and feel
well, who are leading very productive, very gratifying lives..."
In order to best understand the present
disparities in funding by the National Institutes of
Health we recommend that you watch the following videos in the
order stated here (a
high speed Internet connection is required and please allow a
few seconds for
them to start playing):

ABC7 TV in Los Angeles held a "Pay it
Forward" award in which they gave away $7,000 to seven
non-profit organizations who were helping
Southern CA citizens. Members of FAIR Liver Disease
and Transplant Support Group did a video (a
requirement) speaking of how the group and Dr.
Darling helped save their lives. They goal was to
raise the money for the support group.
FAIR was not chosen but we remain very touched by
the words
spoken by these patients.
