Data in this report are based on information from all death certificates filed in the 50 States and the District of Columbia and are processed by the CDC’s NCHS. Data for 2003 are based on records of deaths that occurred during 2003 and were received as of February 28, 2005.

The HIV/AIDS deaths total of 13,658 is unpublished but can be verified by contacting the Branch above. The 13,658 figure will be in the upcoming "Full" Final report.
